Cub Scout Ranks
Cub Scouts in the Pack are grouped by age and grade into ranks. The rank your child will start with depends on his/her current age and grade as follows:
Entering kindergarten – LIONS
Completed kindergarten – TIGERS
Completed the first grade – WOLVES
Completed the second grade – BEARS
Completed the third grade – WEBELOS
Completed the fourth grade – ARROW OF LIGHT (AOL)
The Cub Scout Advancement program is an excellent way to spend quality time with your child. While dens will work together on their rank advancement, the ultimate responsibility for scouts earning awards in Cub Scouts lies with the families. Most achievements are done in Den meetings, abut some must be done at home with the family and familes must coordinate with den leaders to make up any achievements they missed for den meetings they didn’t attend. Ranks are grade specific and scouts are not able to complete rank once they have a passed on to the next grade level. As a result, the awards your child earns helps raise his/her self-esteem and confidence.
In General, each rank requires the scout to complete six required adventures and two elective adventures. As the scout completes adventures they will receive either the adventure loop (Lion-Bear) or adventure pin (Webelos & AOL) for that adventure. Each year the Pack has a Rank advancement ceremony at our April Camp-out and all scouts that have completed their rank requirements by that point will be recognized and receive their rank advacement during the ceremony. Scouts that complete the requirements after that point will receive their rank at the next Pack Meeting.
