Pack 283

Located in Wayzata, Minnesota, Pack 283 is chartered by Wayzata Community Church. Founded in 1944, it is one of the longest continuously chartered Packs in Minnesota. The program is open to kids of all genders from kindergarten through fifth grade and is made up of Scouts primarily from Gleason Lake and St. Bart's Elementary Schools as well as Birchview Elementary, home-schooled children, and Scouts from other local schools. Pack 283 is part of District M in the Northern Star Council of Scouting America.

Scouts are grouped within Dens based on their grade level. Each Den meets once or twice a month to do activities centered around advancement, character development, and personal growth, In addition, the Pack meets as a group toward the end of each month to recognize scouts who have completed awards, hosts special guests, and have an evening of games and activities. The Pack also hosts a number of events each month including fall and spring camping weekends, sledding, fishing, mini-golf, and other outdoor events, trips to winter day and summer resident camps, and much more. The emphasis for the Scouting program is to use activities like these to have fun and learn how to care for yourself and the world around you.

Pack 283 events are family friendly, with parents and siblings not only encouraged to attend but to actively particpate as they are able. We are always open for new familes to join us and any event on our calendar is a perfect time to just stop by and check us out if you are interested. We look forward to see you in and your Scout soon!
